Peeling Leather Repair in Dallas–Fort Worth
Peeling means two very different things, and the difference decides everything. On genuine leather, 'peeling' is usually the finish coat flaking off an intact hide — very repairable: the failed finish is removed, the surface rebuilt and refinished. On bonded leather, peeling is the material itself delaminating — a polyurethane face separating from a fiber backing — and no coating can permanently rebond it.

We tell you which you have from your photos, for free, before anything else. Genuine-leather peeling gets a proper strip-and-refinish that restores the panel. Bonded leather gets an honest conversation: light cases can sometimes be stabilized for a few more years, heavy delamination means we'll advise you not to spend the money.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my couch is bonded leather or real leather?
Bonded leather usually peels in thin plastic-like flakes showing fabric underneath, often on a piece under 5–7 years old. Real leather finish failure flakes color while the surface below still looks and feels like hide. Send photos — identifying it is the free first step.
Can peeling bonded leather be repaired at all?
Light, localized delamination can sometimes be stabilized and recoated to buy a few more years — worth it on some pieces. Widespread peeling can't be fixed permanently by anyone, whatever ads claim, and we'll tell you plainly rather than sell you a repair that fails.
My genuine leather seat is peeling. What does the repair involve?
The failed finish is stripped from the panel, the hide surface is prepped and rebuilt where needed, then the panel is re-grained, recolored and sealed. It's effectively a factory refinish done on-site.
Why did the finish peel in the first place?
Usually sun and heat degrading the topcoat, harsh cleaners breaking its bond, or body oils saturating high-contact spots. The refinish uses current-generation coatings, and we'll point out the cause so it doesn't repeat.
