Leather Rip & Tear Repair in Dallas–Fort Worth

A tear is the damage that makes people assume the furniture is done: an open flap on the seat cushion, a split along the arm, a rip where something sharp caught the panel. It looks terminal. It almost never is.

Tear repair is structural work. We back the tear with a flexible sub-patch bonded under the hide, close and secure the original leather over it, fill and level the seam, re-grain the texture and refinish the color. The repaired panel takes normal sitting loads again — this is a rebuild, not a cosmetic cover-up.

Frequently Asked Questions

The tear has an open flap of leather. Can that be saved?

Usually yes — an intact flap is actually good news, since the original grain can be laid back over the sub-patch. Don't trim or glue it yourself; send photos as it is.

Will a repaired tear hold up to daily sitting?

Yes. The sub-patch carries load across the wound and flexes with the panel. Repairs on seating surfaces are built specifically for repeated compression and movement.

When is a tear NOT repairable?

When the surrounding leather is too degraded to bond to — heavily rotted, sun-crisped or delaminating bonded leather. We'll tell you from photos; you won't pay for a visit to hear bad news.

How big a tear can you repair?

Size matters less than location and hide condition. Long tears in sound leather repair well; even large damage can be handled if the panel edges are healthy. Photos with something for scale help the estimate.
